American and French Oak
November 15, 2016
On the scale between Ruby and Tawny in color, this Portejas definitely leans towards the Ruby end. Combining the natural fruitiness of dark ripe fruit with just a hint of leather and cedar. A wonderful balance of sweetness, body, and flavor.
58.14% Lenoir 2014 and 2015 from Lost Oak Winery’s 731 Vineyard, 24.6% Merlot 2007 from Roybert Bayless, 10.3% 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon from Bingham Family Vineyard, TX High Plains, 7.4% 2011 Tempranillo from Lost Oak Winery’s Post Oak Vineyard, TX
Food Pairing Notes
If you like bleu cheese, try it with Stilton and walnuts. Also pairs nicely with pecan pie, dark chocolate, chocolate mousse, or a cigar.
